Barnburners is a 5-on-5 arcade hockey game featuring 24 fictional clubs, body checks, one-timers and player-controlled fights. Players can compete against the CPU, share a team or play against friends with up to four people locally, or play online head-to-head. Franchise mode includes line management, trades, free-agent signings and a rookie draft across multiple seasons. Other modes include outdoor games, 3-on-3 Pond Hockey, Training Camp and arcade competitions.
